To begin, the parent-teacher conference can be held on the phone or in person and should be scheduled in advance to meet the needs of all parties. It is advised that more than one staff member attend if possible. Also, teachers need to be informed of who and how many people will attend. In sensitive cases, parents bring lawyers and advocates and may even record the meeting. The teacher needs to know in advance so that he or she can also have additional staff and recorders available.
