Statistics report that much of family violence goes unreported. From what you have read and seen in the script “Domestic Violence,”.

-how it makes sense, from a systems perspective, for the incident to go unreported to authorities.
-As a family therapist, how would you work with a client family currently experiencing some type of community or family violence? Give an example of a situation and intervention.

Domestic violence is a well-used term that encompasses a wide range of experiences. Geles (1997 as cited in D’Ardenne & Balakrishan, 2001) has proposed a definition for domestic violence that implies a deliberate, physical, psychological and/or sexual abuse of another person in an intimate relationship. Moreover, victims include victims and their partners, parents attacked by children, same s-sex relationships who are violent. According to D’Ardenne, & Balakrishna, the therapist who utilizes a Family Systems perspective would have to consider the risk and danger to the client.
