TaskStudents are to conduct a formal needs assessment in the setting using appropriate resources. Based on the outcomes of the needs assessment you are to plan, implement and evaluate a therapeutic recreation program in the setting with a small group of clients (2 or more individuals). You can also do this on an existing program within your organisation if the organisation will not allow you to implement a new program.

The needs assessment should help to identify, implement and evaluate the new recreational activity you will in- troduce into the service. Ideally you should aim to develop a single program over a period of time, with 4-6 individual sessions. For example, music therapy introduced over 6 x 1 hour sessions, or a horticultural therapy program 4 x 2 hour sessions. Each session of the program needs to be planned, implemented and evaluated.
