Task:

Mind Map and Written Reflection The task is to create a Mind Map that depicts your cultural identity, values, beliefs and behaviors followed by a written reflection that examines how your cultural identity impacts or may conflict with being a culturally competent practitioner in a multicultural health care environment .

You should identify at least 4 key elements of your personal cultural identity and the values, beliefs and behaviors that are derived from each of the elements. The elements of cultural identity may be Family, Class, Gender, Ethnicity, Spirituality, Life Experience, Education and so forth Instructions: Written Reflection Write a reflection examining how the four (4) key elements and the derived values, beliefs and behaviours impact on and/or may detract from you being a culturally competent practitioner in a multicultural health care environment Reference to the literature is required to support your argument or assertions. What is a mind map? A mind map is a diagram used to visually organise information. A mind map is often created around a single concept, drawn as an image in the centre of a blank landscape page, to which associated representations of ideas such as images, words and parts of words are added. Major ideas are connected directly to the central concept, and other ideas branch out from those. As with other diagramming tools, mind maps can be used to generate, visualise, structure, and classify ideas, and as an aid to studying and organising information, solving problems, making decisions, and writing. Mind maps are tools which help you think and learn.
