I. Introduction
The purpose of this article is to critique the article Factors Involved in Recovery From Schizophrenia: A Qualitative Study of Thai Mental Health Nurses by Kaewprom, C., Curtis, J., & Deane, F. P, written in 2011. Through qualitative research, the authors of this article aimed to answer the question of what factors are present in the recovery from schizophrenia.
In recent years, Thailand has come a long way in how it views mental illnesses. And because of this, the country has taken remarkable steps to provide care for those suffering from mental illness such as schizophrenia. “There has been a strong desire by Thailand’s Department of Mental Health to promote recovery among persons who have been diagnosed with a mental illness. In the 1970s, mental health services were integrated into the public health system (Siriwanarangsan et al., 2004). Since then, the health system has been redesigned into four levels: family, primary care service, secondary care service, and tertiary care service” (Department of Mental Health, 2008).
