Task Description:
There are 2 parts to this task. You must complete both parts.
PART 1
Using the case study found on page 3 of this document, create a genogram to visually depict
the family’s structure (template and exemplar provided).
PART 2
In a short, 500-word essay:
• Define what a genogram is and discuss the rationale for completing a genogram as
part of the nursing assessment of families.
• Select one (1) of the other family assessment models/tools discussed in module 1.4:
Nursing care of families (do not select genograms) and briefly describe this
model/tool.
• Discuss the benefits of using this selected tool as part of the nurse’s assessment of the
family.
NOTE: Your discussion must be supported by a minimum of four (4) evidence-based pieces
of literature published within the last seven (7) years.
